So my grandmother wrote me a letter, if you were wondering what she made of my gift, happily she likes the knitting (which is more than I deserve) but, she completely floored me with her plans for the teacosy.
Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled that she loves it so much, but I wasn't expecting her to sew up the holes for spout and handle and turn it into.......a hat! Apparently it matches so well with the Fetchings...
Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else? I asked this on ravelry, but I know there are tons of non-ravelry-users out there too, have you ever made something for someone who has thought of a better use for it?
I have one complete ball and about 1/4 of another of the Rowan all seasons cotton (beige) to give away...if anyone would like them let me know. The Fetchings, teacosy and heart all took one ball of wool each.

Er No - but then I have never knit anyone a tea cosy. At least your Grandmother is using it. There is nothing worse than hand knits just shoved in the drawer and never used. I'll bet it looks quite stylish!

Hehe - that is so funny! =) That has never happened to me however I usually give pretty obvious things away. A sock can really only be a sock (or a sock puppet but I haven't had any reports of that happening ;) A lace shawl or scarf can really only be that either. More power to your grandmother for getting creative with it ;) I for one would have stuck with the tea cosy though, I have some deep seated wish to make a tea cosy for a pretty little pot but that would require both a pretty pot and an actual cosy! ;)
Oh that is brilliant, so funny, what a radical grandmother you have. I think you should take it as a great compliment.
At least she used/wore your gift. I have given things to people and heard that they were put away for "good." I always wonder when "good" will arrive!
